China Women's University (CWU) held a ceremony in its third conference room on April 25 to see off Guo Dongsheng, deputy dean of the School of Children's Development and Education, who was scheduled to serve a temporary position in the county of Zhangxian in northwest China's Gansu Province.
During the departure ceremony, Ren Cuiru, director-general of the university's Organization Department, gave an introduction of the requirements made by the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF) upon selected officials for their new positions with an emphasis upon target poverty alleviation in the poverty-stricken county and gave an introduction of Guo himself.
For his part, Guo said that it was a new chapter for him to temporarily work in the northwestern region and added that he would press ahead with his new task and live up to the expectations of the ACWF and the CWU.
He suggested that poverty alleviation work in Zhangxian should be integrated into the overall arrangement of CWU and treated as a new channel for the university to act on the objectives of the Communist Party of China (CPC), fulfill its social responsibilities, promote women's development, and further their talent cultivation.
Meanwhile, Li Mingshun, secretary of CWU Party Committee, stressed that the university has attached great importance to the fulfillment of temporary work in impoverished regions with an emphasis upon targeted poverty alleviation since it is vital for the realization of a moderately prosperous society in all respects.
Li called on Guo and other faculty members involved in similar tasks to accomplish their work from the height of political missions, assist impoverished populations with complete dedication, and work out applicable methods to improve the lives of local people.
He added that the CWU would be their strong backup force in the completion of due tasks in designated regions.
Those present at the departure ceremony included faculty members from the departments of organizations, publicity and personnel, trade unions, and the School of Children's Development and Education.
