China Women's University (CWU) held a contest on May 22 to select outstanding entrants for their inspirational speeches at the upcoming graduation ceremony.
A total of 11 students emerged as candidates from hundreds of applicants after several rounds of preliminary selection.
Along with 12 student representatives, six faculty members from the Student Affairs Office, other departments and schools jointly made up the judging committee in the contest.
The finalists talked about personal growth and achievements over the past four years, conveyed deep gratitude to the university for its education, and demonstrated their determination and faith in the building of a bright future when delivering speeches at the event.
Some of them acted as volunteers in the Chairman Mao Memorial Hall, China Soong Ching Ling Foundation, and many other occasions over the past few years. In addition, many others will continue their academic studies and devote themselves to charity affairs in northwest China's Xinjiang Autonomous Uygur Region.
In the end, two contestants won the qualification to present their speeches at the graduation ceremony.
Moreover, the rest of the finalists were conferred with awards and titles for their entry into the final competition.
According to the CWU, it is an innovative and popular approach for the university to carry out the selection of outstanding graduates-to-be to give speeches at the graduation ceremony.
The activity is conducive to consolidating the ties between the CWU and its students, encouraging outstanding graduates to set up an exemplary model for others, showcasing the fine images and talents of students on campus, and further boosting all graduates' sense of achievement.
