CWU Exhibition Showcases Work by Fashion, Design Graduates

Final year students from the School of Art and Design at China Women's University (CWU) staged a show of their designs at a side-gathering to China Graduate Fashion Week at 751D: PARK in Beijing on May 15.
The main festival, organized by China Fashion Association from May 13-20, drew the attendance of students from 54 key universities of fashion and arts from home and abroad.
Meanwhile, CWU's School of Art and Design opened a parallel exhibition on campus of works by a selection of their outstanding graduates.
This year marked the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the school's relevant disciplines and majors, and the 10th time it has hosted such an exhibition.
The opening ceremony was attended by officials including Wang Jingxia, vice-president of the CWU; Li Wei, professor from the Academy of Arts and Design at Tsinghua University and guest professor at the CWU; directors from the Teaching Affairs Office, the School of Art and Design, and other relevant departments at the CWU; and, representatives of faculty members and students.
The event featured 165 works divided into static and dynamic sections. The creators intended to makes explorations of fashion design from the perspective of function and influences and to showcase their thinking about ethnicity and its relation to future fashion.
Wang Lu, dean of the CWU School of Art and Design, said the exhibited works were categorized into three groups with varying themes in accordance with the different majors offered at the school.
Wang said the school will invite professionals, faculty members and students to voice their opinions concerning talent cultivation, construction and the development of relevant disciplines in the next several days.
