CWU Holds Lecture about Communist Manifesto

The Publicity Department, Student Affairs Office and Trade Unions at China Women's University (CWU) co-hosted a lecture on the Communist Manifesto, one of the most prominent works of Karl Marx, on campus on May 29.

It drew the attendance of Li Mingshun, secretary of the CWU Party Committee; Wang Jingxia, vice-president of the CWU; Ren Cuiru, deputy secretary of the CWU Party Committee and secretary of the CWU Commission for Discipline Inspection; and representatives of faculty members as well as students.

The themed lecture was chaired by Ren and presented by Liu Zhiming, who is a researcher from the Academy of Marxism at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS).

Liu made an intensive explanation of the Communist Manifesto in terms of its writing background, scientific fundamentals and contemporary values in his lecture.

Moreover, he elaborated on several other classical writings by Marx in a drive to further promote the Party-building work under current social circumstances.

Ren called on all faculty members and students on campus to continue with their studies and research of classical works from the school of Marxism, integrate their reading of relevant writings into the implementation of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, and make full use of the scientific essence as well as spirit of Marxism in a move to further improve the university's political and spiritual work and talent cultivation amid their commemoration of the 200th anniversary of the birth of Marx and 170th anniversary of the publication of the Communist Manifesto.

In addition, the university has organized for its Party members to read the Communist Manifesto and watch a biopic about young Marx in a move to further consolidate their faith in Marxism and Communism and strengthen their personal consciousness of relevant obligations.
