CWU Convenes Preparatory Meeting of Two Representative Conferences

China Women's University (CWU) convened a meeting on the morning of July 16 to listen to reports on preparation for the 3rd Congress of Faculty Members (CFM) and the 3rd Representative Assembly of Trade Union Members (RATUM).

Ren Cuiru, deputy secretary of the CWU Party Committee and secretary of the CWU Commission for Discipline Inspection, presided over the preparatory meeting.

It drew the attendance of Li Mingshun, secretary of the CWU Party Committee; Liu Liqun, president of the CWU; Liu Meng, Wang Jingxia and Wang Lian, vice-presidents of the CWU; and 109 delegates to the two conventions.

Wang Jingxia, who is also vice-director of the Leading Group for Preparatory Work of the 3rd CFM and RATUM, presented her reports on the organization, the election of delegates, agenda, draft name-list of the presidium, and the drafting and revision of important documents of the two conventions.

She also briefed attendees about the recommended name-lists of the 3rd CFM Executive Committee, the 3rd RATUM, and the Budget Review Committee of the CWU Trade Union, as well as the collection of delegates' proposals, publicity and preparation work.

During the meeting, participants unanimously adopted the report on reviewing delegates' qualifications, the draft name-list of the presidium and secretary-general, and the other arrangements of the two conventions.

Li said in his speech that the convention of the two representative conferences is a key political matter in the life of all faculty members and has become an important channel for the university to promote its progress and improve the institutional building of its CFM and RATUM.

He urged all delegates to fulfill their political responsibilities, concentrate themselves on the themes of the two representative meetings, perform their duties in representing and safeguarding the legal rights of all faculty members and students, and work together to complete all set targets.

In the afternoon, the presidium of two representative congresses convened its first plenary session, which passed the draft name-list of acting president, finalized the draft name-lists of delegates with voting rights, ballot tellers and scrutinizers, and made arrangements of other issues.
