Guo Dongsheng, deputy dean of the School of Children's Development and Education at China Women's University (CWU), was officially appointed as vice-mayor of Zhangxian County People's Government in northwest China's Gansu Province at a ceremony held there on May 31.
Local legislature passed a resolution about Guo's appointment at a meeting, where he pledged his allegiance to the constitution on the same day.
Earlier this year, Guo was recommended by the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF) to assume his new position with an emphasis upon poverty alleviation in economically underdeveloped areas, including Zhangxian, in a drive to win the poverty relief battle.
The CWU will spare no efforts to provide Guo with assistance in the completion of his two-year-long project in the county from the height of political obligation.
