CWU Concludes Military Training for Freshmen

China Women's University (CWU) held a ceremony at a training center in the district of Changping, in Beijing on September 30, to mark the conclusion of its military training for first-year students and the beginning of a new semester for them.

Ren Cuiru, deputy secretary of the CWU Party Committee and secretary of the CWU Commission for Discipline Inspection, presided over the ceremony.

Trainees were divided into 17 formations and presented their shows to attending officials, which included Zhang Bing, an official from the Department of Sports, Health and Art of the Beijing Municipal Education Commission; Li Mingshun, secretary of the CWU Party Committee; Liu Liqun, president of the CWU; Wang Jingxia, vice-president of the CWU; and Han Yan, director of the Armed Forces Department at the CWU.

Han read out a list of role models in the military training and presented awards, along with other attending officials, to winners at the gathering.

Speaking at the ceremony, Zhang gave high praise to the CWU's work on military training and national defense education.

Liu emphasized in her speech that freshmen should have high aspirations, stick to their mission, strive for excellence in their academic studies, keep the university's motto into mind, and pass down its fine traditions.
