A 16-member delegation from China Women's University (CWU) won second place in the fifth National Honor Guard Competition for College Students held in a Beijing-based military school on September 29.

The contest was held by the Department of University Affairs of the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League of China to better act on Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and the spirit of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, strengthen the cultivation of capable young people well-prepared to join the socialist cause, and promote the education of laws related to the national flag and national anthem.

It drew the attendance of flag-raising teams from 27 universities, which included Beihang University and Fujian Police College.

The event helped attendees have a better understanding of their responsibilities and missions in the new era, and popularized China's national spirit with an emphasis upon patriotism.
