CWU Convenes Meeting to Study Xi's Remarks, Spirit of NWC
The Party Committee of China Women's University (CWU) held a meeting on November 5 to convey and study the latest remarks made by President Xi Jinping after he met the new leadership of the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF) and the spirit of the 12th National Women's Congress of China (NWC).
The 12th NWC was held in Beijing from October 30 to November 2.
President Xi, also general-secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and chairman of the Central Military Commission, explained the importance of upholding the socialist path with Chinese characteristics for women's development and mobilizing women to make further achievements, when meeting with the newly elected leadership of the ACWF on November 2.
Li Mingshun, secretary of the CWU Party Committee, presided over the university's conference, which drew the attendance of members of the Standing Committee of the CWU Party Committee.
The gathering was also convened to learn and act upon the important addresses made by Zhao Leji, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and secretary of the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection; Shen Yueyue, vice-chairperson of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress and president of the ACWF; and Huang Xiaowei, secretary of the Leading Party Group and vice-president and first member of the Secretariat of the ACWF.
Participants in the meeting emphasized that the 12th NWC was a meeting of great importance held during the decisive stage in building a moderately prosperous society in all respects and at a critical moment as socialism with Chinese characteristics has entered a new era. It was also important in the history of the development of women's affairs and in the political life of officials from women's federations as well as women from all walks of life.
They agreed that the keynote speech by President Xi has sent a clear signal on the fundamental requirements concerning work on women's affairs. The remarks explicitly stated the responsibilities and missions of women's federations, led the way forward and injected new strength into the CPC's leadership regarding women's affairs in the new era.
Moreover, the important address will become a master plan in guiding work on women's affairs, opening new frontiers and making fresh victories in the future, according to officials.
In conclusion, the meeting stated that the university would prioritize the study and implementation of President Xi's keynote speech and the spirit of the 12th NWC on its agenda and center them in its themed discussions as well as publicity work, whilst carrying forwards the key points of the latest national education conference.
