CWU Holds Meeting to Assess the Feasibility of Its Program with Beijing Sub-district Office

An expert consultation meeting was held at China Women's University (CWU) on October 23 to evaluate the feasibility of a collaborative and innovative program featuring the cultivation of talent personnel for the development of tourism in Datun Sub-district Office in Beijing.

The two-year program was jointly launched by the CWU and Datun Sub-district Office this June. It has officially entered into a research period.

Liu Meng, vice-president of the CWU; Zhang Lili, dean of the School of Management; teachers and students from the school jointly attended the meeting. Jin Xiaona, vice-dean of the School of Management, presided over the gathering.

Members of the consultation committee included Dong Qing, director-general of the Water Park Department in the Ministry of Water Resources; Duan Rongyin, a researcher from the Regional Cooperation Department in Beijing Municipal Commission of Tourism Development; Gao Jingru, director of Datun Sub-district Office; Niu Yafei, a researcher from the Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research in the Chinese Academy of Sciences; and Zhao Zheng, an associate fellow from the Development Research Center of the State Council.

Speaking at the ceremony, Liu extended a warm welcome to attending officials and professors. She hoped that they would continually pay closer attention to the university's development and show their support towards the further growth of its major of tourism administration.

Zhang sent her congratulations to organizers of the program on its approval. She said that the project would provide her colleagues and students from the school with a platform in their future academic studies and development, adding that it should be closely intertwined with the university's curricular activities in a move to ensure its success.

For her part, Gao gave an introduction of the sub-district's advantages in the development of tourism. She emphasized that the project would further increase local residents' comprehensive competence and accelerate the growth of its tourism industry.

In conclusion, Zhu Yingbo, associate professor from the research office of tourism management, gave a brief introduction of the project to participants at the gathering.
