China Women's University (CWU) held a training session on Party-building affairs in Hongqiqu Executive Leadership Academy in Linzhou, a city in central China's Henan Province, on October 27-29.

The three-day event drew the attendance of Liu Liqun, deputy secretary of the CWU Party Committee and president of the university; Wang Jingxia and Wang Lian, members of the Standing Committee of the CWU Party Committee and vice-presidents of the university; Zhao Hao, member of the Standing Committee of the CWU Party Committee; Ren Cuiru, deputy secretary of the CWU Party Committee and secretary of the CWU Commission for Discipline Inspection; and over 50 mid-level officials at the university.

Zhao presided over the opening ceremony on October 27. Chen Donghui, vice-president of Hongqiqu Executive Leadership Academy, gave an introduction to the institute and the spirit of Hongqiqu to the CWU delegation at the opening.

Du Guanghua, a lecturer from the Linzhou-based academy, made an explanation of Hongqiqu Spirit and its values under the current social circumstances in his address.

The CWU delegation listened to an introduction of the stories of three local role models, visited a memorial museum in commemoration of the epic deeds and countless sacrifices made by local people in the construction of irrigation and drinking facilities, and watched a themed documentary as well as drama featuring the life stories of a senior village Party chief and Hongqiqu Spirit.

Moreover, the CWU delegation also toured the township of Shibanyan, where they learned about the exemplary stories of governmental employees at the grassroots level.

Ren made an arrangement of the university's Party-building work in the second half of this year. She noted that the university should make a closer implementation of key points of the national education conference and Beijing education conference, abide to the Constitution of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and new rules on sanctions for those who violate the Party code of conduct, and prepare for the assessment work of its academic workloads reserved for undergraduate students.

In addition to summing up the university's work in the first half of this year, Liu arranged its major tasks in the following several months. She emphasized that the university should strengthen its preparation for the assessment of its academic progress and the application of qualifications in cultivating graduate students and conferring master degrees; inject more vitality and improve its capacity in administrative affairs; and enhance the work of talent cultivation with an emphasis upon innovation.
