CWU Holds Meeting to Study the Spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's Speech at Commemorative Gathering of May 4th Movement

China Women's University (CWU) organized a meeting on April 30 to study the spirit of the speech delivered by General Secretary Xi Jinping at a gathering marking the centenary of the May 4th Movement in Beijing. Xi urged Chinese youth to uphold Marxist beliefs, follow the Party's leadership and devote themselves to the nation and the people.

"Xi emphasized the historical significance and contemporary values of the May 4th Movement in his keynote speech. The address provides us with clear direction and new requirements in the implementation of the spirit of May 4th Movement in the New Era," said Li Mingshun, Secretary of the Party Committee of the CWU, at the meeting.

Li called on teachers and students to closely follow the spirit of Xi's speech and have a deep understanding of the May 4th Movement, which has patriotism as its passion and civilization and reform as its inner pursuits.

Li urged young people to keep in mind Xi's expectations of and hopes for them, turn his encouragements into spiritual stimulus and follow his requirements for them in studies, work and life.

Six student representatives shared their thoughts about how to act on the spirit of the May 4th Movement in their future lives in a better way during the meeting. They will cherish good life, enhance their academic and social abilities and creativity, integrate academic studies into social practice and draw inspirations from Xi's speeches concerning their growth.

Liu Liqun, President of the CWU, congratulated young students on the arrival of Chinese Youth Day at the meeting. Liu explained that the May 4th Movement was not only a historical event but also represented a valuable spirit, and this year was both the 100th anniversary of May 4th Movement and the 70th founding anniversary of the CWU.

She said that students at the university should keep in mind Xi's instructions in relation to their growth and studies, carry forwards the spirit of May 4th Movement, forge ahead with personal missions, give full play to their unique strengths and strive for the realization of the Chinese dream of national rejuvenation.
