CWU Signs Cooperation Agreement with CUC

China Women's University (CWU) and the Communication University of China (CUC) signed a comprehensive cooperation framework agreement in Beijing on May 10.
Li Mingshun, Secretary of the Party Committee of the CWU, Liu Liqun, President of the CWU, Sun Jianbei, Vice-President of the CWU, Ren Cuiru, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the CWU and Secretary of the Discipline Inspection Committee of the CWU, Chen Wenshen, Secretary of the Party Committee of the CUC, Liao Xiangzhong, President of the CUC,and Zhang Shuting, Vice-President of the CUC, attended the signing ceremony.
Wang Lian, Vice-President of the CWU, chaired the event.
Li Mingshun said that amidst the strategic background of accelerating the building of "world-class universities and first-class disciplines," the competition of higher education within the country was becoming increasingly fierce. It was a trend to strengthen cooperation between universities, deepen integrated development and promote mutually beneficial cooperation, said Li.

As a leading university of China in communication education, the CUC has abundant resources, leading disciplinary advantages and qualified teachers, he remarked.
He continued to say that the CWU had great advantages in serving women and children, training women talent and concentrating on gender studies. The CUC and the CWU had cooperated for a long time and had a solid ground for talent training, scientific research and international communication and cooperation.
The signing of the comprehensive cooperation framework agreement is an important measure to help modernize higher education and implement the guidelines of the National Education Conference.

Chen Wenshen said that the CUC and the CWU had partnership on many projects. Over the past 50 years, the CWU has consistently kept pace with the economic and social development of the country, worked to promote the development of higher education and contributed to the women's progress in the world.
He said that communication was the operating system of social governance and women were the soft power to change the world. The CUC would be a good partner, establish a sound cooperation environment, firmly promote the landing of field cooperation and make new contributions for cooperation between the two universities, he added.
The presidents of the two universities signed the agreement.
According to the agreement, the two sides would cooperate in talent training, scientific research, team building, discipline building and management improvements.
They would strategically cooperate and communicate in the four following domains:
First, they would promote scientific-research cooperation and strengthen disciplinary specialty development through school cooperation, sharing of experts, joint research, and joint application of projects.
Second, they would promote talent training and coordinate the training of students through open courses, bilateral visits and sharing of instructors and exchange of students.
Third, they would promote academic integration through sharing of employees, vocational training and exchange between administrative staff.
Fourth, they would promote research, pedagogue and training to explore a joint mechanism in international communication and cooperation under the UNESCO Chair in Media and Gender.
