Li Mingshun Gives a Party Lecture on Women's Development over Past 70 Years

Li Mingshun, Secretary of the Party Committee of China Women's University (CWU), gave a lecture on women's development over the past 70 years at a training base in Changping District, in Beijing, on September 27.

Li reviewed the development of Chinese women since the founding of the People's Republic of China (PRC) from three aspects: firstly, women's liberation and development is the mission of the Communist Party of China(CPC); secondly, with the founding of the PRC, Chinese women gained historic liberation; thirdly, the women's cause has had many achievements over the past 70 years since the founding of the PRC.

He pointed out that the liberation and development of Chinese women cannot be separated from the leadership of the CPC, while the Party has taken the liberation of women and the struggle for equality between men and women as its historical mission since its founding. 

Historical experience has fully proved that the CPC's leadership is the fundamental guarantee of the achievements of the development of Chinese women and the most essential feature of the movement of Chinese women in the new era.

Li further elaborated on the general requirements of the women's work in the new era, saying that women's development in China must be guided by General Secretary Xi Jinping's important remarks on women and women's work, and must firmly follow the path of socialist women's development with Chinese characteristics.

Li went on to introduce the challenges faced by the development of Chinese women in the new era, adding that misunderstandings of gender equality and gender discrimination must be removed to realize gender equality and women's all-round development.

The Party Committee of the CWU has been paying great attention to freshmen's education by carrying out training, holding lectures and organizing freshmen to learn school songs and mottos as well as school history to promote the achievements of Chinese women in the past 70 years.
