CWU Holds CITIC Prudential Life Award Scholarship Donation Ceremony

A CITIC Prudential Life Award Scholarship donation ceremony was held at China Women's University (CWU) on December 27, 2019. Zhao Xiaofan, Secretary of the Party Committee and General Manager of CITIC Prudential Life Insurance Co. Ltd., Li Mingshun, Secretary of the Party Committee of the CWU, and Liu Liqun, President of the CWU, took part in the ceremony.

Zhao and other visitors from the insurance company watched a demonstration of CWU students who had joined in the women militia parade and the choir to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China at Tian'anmen Square in Beijing on Oct 1, 2019. They also visited the university's history museum and listened to the songs performed by the university's Hongfan Choir.

Li, on behalf of the CWU, expressed his gratitude to the company for its donation. He said the CWU has received support from loving people in society for its establishment and development and the university is striving to improve itself and to strengthen its ability to contribute to society.

Liu thanked the company for its kindness. She said the generous donation demonstrated the company's advanced ideas and actions supporting the national policy of equality between men and women and the priority of education development. The company has shouldered its social responsibility. The CWU will also increase efforts to further foster students' hardworking spirit and their awareness of the public interest in the future.

Student representatives expressed their gratitude to the company, saying that they will study hard, actively participate in voluntary service activities, and re-pay society with their actions.

Zhao donated 600,000 yuan (US$85,670.23) to the CWU on behalf of his company to reward and support impoverished students at the university.

Zhao said the donation, which follows another two made earlier, is a move that the company has taken for overcome poverty through improving education. He added that the company will continue to increase efforts in the future to offer help to the students of the CWU.

After the ceremony, senior executives from the company shared their opinions on women's development and employment and women and insurance products with student representatives and encouraged them to learn broadly and develop the ability to learn and think independently.
