What CWU's Students and Teachers Said on International Women's Day

The 110th International Women's Day fell on March 8, 2020, which was special because it happened during the battle against the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

Many teachers and students of the China Women's University (CWU) shared their ideas related to the anti-virus fight to mark the occasion.

Li Xiaoli, a teacher at the Culture Communication College, said, "I will do my job well. In the fight against the epidemic, we should connect our professions with our jobs to improve the students' professional and cultural qualities."

Liu Yongting, a teacher at the School of Law, said, "Every Chinese, no matter man or woman, should do their job well, take care of their family and actively participate in the construction of the country, and that is patriotism."

Qi Pin, Peng Hua, Zhang Shuling and a number of other teachers of the Department of Foreign Languages said that as women teachers they will actively respond to the call of the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF), to ensure the orderly operation of online teaching and improve the quality of the lessons to contribute to the fight against the COVID-19 and boost the development of the education.

Zhang Jing, a teacher of the Vocational College, said, "Our students and I will stick to our post of a psychological counselling hotline for fighting against the epidemic. When I listen to the patients, medical staff and families of the deceased due to the disease on the telephone, I feel the strength of life and I am proud of our female students and university."

Wu Juan, Liu Kehan and Fan Fangfang from the School of Management said that they will actively participate in voluntary services to fight against the epidemic. 

Zhang Ji, a teacher of the Talent Development and Training Center of the ACWF, said that Chinese women play important roles in the fight against the COVID-19. Women account for a high proportion of community-level workers who have participated in fighting against the epidemic.  

"As regards the anti-virus fight in medical treatment, epidemic prevention and control and scientific research on the front line, we have seen the courage, toughness, calm and meticulousness of Chinese women as well as their professional quality and spirit," said Liu Xiuhui, a teacher at the College of Extended Education.

"Women medical workers fighting against the epidemic on the front line are the most beautiful angels in the world. Overseas students of the CWU are telling China's anti-epidemic stories to people around the world. Teachers and students actively participated in various voluntary activities," said Ding Zhangang from the Office of Academic Affairs.

"I believe that under the guidance of the Communist Party of China, China will definitely win the anti-virus battle and win the battle against poverty,” said Bai Lizhen, a teacher in the Computer Science Department.

Zhai Xuemei from the of College of Extended Education said that the epidemic  will not defeat the people but will make them stronger, more determined and more united and make overseas people see the greatness of the Chinese government and the Chinese people. Zhai salutes the women engaged in the anti-virus battle and said she is proud of all Chinese women.

Ye Liang, a teacher of the Department of Scientific Research and Management, said that in the fight against the epidemic, women took on a heavy workload in medical nursing; they also played an important role in scientific research. Ye said she will seek excellence in scientific research in tribute to these women medical staff.

Liang Jing and Liu Tong, students of School of Cultural Communication, said, "Of the 110,000 medical staff in Wuhan, capital city of Central China's Hubei Province, 42,000 came from outside of Hubei Province, and two-thirds of them were women. They used their power of gentleness and patience to bring firm confidence to patients."
