CWU Holds Online Graduation Ceremony for 2020 Graduates

The China Women's University (CWU) held its graduation ceremony on July 11, 2020, honoring this year's graduates and awarding degrees. In order to reduce the risk of the COVID-19 infection, the ceremony was livestreamed online for remote viewers to enjoy.
Li Mingshun, Secretary of the Party Committee of the CWU, Liu Liqun, President of the CWU, Wang Lian, Vice-President of the CWU, Zhao Hao, Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee of the CWU, and Ren Cuiru, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the CWU, attended the ceremony.
Representatives of the postgraduates, undergraduates and international graduates participated in the graduation ceremony. Other graduates, their parents and some alumni also took part in the ceremony online.
A warm-up video played before the ceremony, highlighting the university's achievements in 2020 and sharing photos and messages from graduates and teachers.
At 9:00, the ceremony drew its curtain for the National Anthem.

Li extended his congratulations to all graduates and their families. "The sudden outbreak of the COVID-19 changed the way to hold the graduation ceremony, and you may have a keener sense and better understanding of the meaning of life due to the epidemic," he said.
Meanwhile, he reviewed General Secretary Xi Jinping's speeches with the attendees, expressing his expectations to the graduates to keep on learning knowledge, improve their perseverance and develop good morals.

Liu delivered a speech during the ceremony. She encouraged the graduates to contribute to women's cause and public welfare undertakings and be ready to help needy people. She further asked them to smile at the trials and hardships they encounter, create an extraordinary life and fight for China's rejuvenation and prosperity.

Wang announced the resolution to award degrees to this year's graduates. The university granted 90 master's degrees, 1,158 bachelor's degrees and 129 double bachelor's degrees.

Wang Xianmi, associate professor with the School of Social Work, spoke at the ceremony on behalf of the teachers. She looked back on her 16 years of learning and teaching the major of social work and working as a social worker at the CWU, and she urged the students to become reliable, responsible and independent people.

At the ceremony, Li Bingru, an undergraduate majoring in broadcasting and hosting, delivered a speech on behalf of her fellows. She said: "It is our most valuable asset that the school enables students to broaden their horizons and strengthen their ability to serve the country and participate in women and children's causes."

Thomas, Miatta Paula, an international postgraduate from Sierra Leone who majored in social work, said that social work is a glorious profession. She appealed to her schoolmates to use the skills they have learned at the CWU to spread positive energy and love.
