Xia Visits CWU's International Students

Xia Jie, Vice-President and Member of the Secretariat of the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF), visited China Women's University (CWU) on February 9, 2021, to see international students who stayed at the university for their winter vacation. On behalf of ACWF, Xia expressed best wishes for the Spring Festival of the Year of the Ox (2021) and she made Chinese dumplings with the students. Zhao Hongju, Inspector at Level 1 of ACWF's Liaison Department, Li Mingshun, secretary of CWU's Communist Party of China (CPC) committee, Liu Liqun, the university's principal and several of the university's leaders accompanied Xia during her visit.

Xia expressed Chinese New Year's greetings on behalf of Shen Yueyue, Vice-Chairperson of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress and President of the ACWF, and Huang Xiaowei, Vice-President and First Member of the Secretariat of the ACWF. Xia said the past year was extraordinary and that Chinese women represented a key force during the grand battle against the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19). The new year, 2021, marks the centenary of the founding of the CPC. The primary reason for the significant progress and achievements China and Chinese women have reached in development is the firm leadership of the CPC, Xia added.

She encouraged the international students to cherish their days of studying in China. She said she hoped they would see the changes occurring daily in China and the advances in Chinese women's development. She also said she hoped the students will find areas of interest shared between Chinese culture and the cultures of their home countries, so they will contribute to the promotion of cultural exchanges, help enhance international cooperation involving women's causes and strive for gender equality and women's development globally.
