CWU President Gives Lecture to First-Year Students

Liu Liqun, President of China Women's University (CWU), gave a lecture titled Equality and Development — Progress and Achievements of the Women's Cause in China since the Fourth World Conference on Women to first-year students on October 13, 2020.

A total of 808 students attended the lecture online and offline.

Started with the Fourth World Conference on Women, Liu focused on the women's cause in China and talked about the important role of women in the international community. She explained the four-point proposal on women's all-round development worldwide which was put forward by President Xi Jinping at the Global Leaders' Meeting on Gender Equality and Women's Empowerment on September 27, 2015.

Liu said that the development of women is of vital importance to today's society, and it is inseparable from the efforts and practices of the international community.

Noting that promoting women's liberation and progress has become the consensus of society, Liu said that China has continuously improved the environment for women's survival and development, established a complete legal system, and promoted women's education.

Liu noted that owing to the strong leadership of the Communist Party of China, the implementation of the basic state policy of gender equality, the promotion of legal systems and mechanisms that are conducive to women's education, and the self-reliance and self-improvement spirit of Chinese women, the country has made such achievements in women's cause.

Through this lecture, the students deepened their understanding of women's responsibilities in the new era.
