CWU's Program Promotes International Development Cooperation

A white paper titled China's International Development Cooperation in the New Era was issued by China's State Council Information Office on January 10, 2021.

The white paper pointed out that since 2013 China has offered over 60 capacity development and technical training programs for women in developing countries, and  provided part-time degree and non-degrees programs on women's leadership and social development, aiming to expand women officials' capacity to participate in political and economic activities.

"Women's Leadership and Social Development" program, approved by the Ministry of Commerce and the All-China Women's Federation and implemented by China Women's University (CWU) since 2016, is a two-year master's program designed for women officials in developing countries.

So far, the program has recruited and trained 97 women government officials from 30 developing countries. They have not only promoted the development of the women's cause in their own countries, but also actively promoted the cooperation between their countries and China.

In addition, the CWU has undertaken short-term foreign aid training tasks since 2013. To date, 19 training sessions have been conducted, helping nearly 700 women officials and leaders from more than 70 developing countries to learn about the policies on women, practice and experience in promoting gender equality and women's participation in social and economic development in China.
