China Women's Development Foundation (CWDF) on March 30 held a ceremony to launch the 2024 project to help full-time mothers realize their value. The event was held in Jing'an Park, in Jing'an, a district in East China's Shanghai Municipality.
Sun Mingli, Deputy Director of the Standing Committee of the People's Congress of Jing'an District, Nan Jing, Assistant Secretary-General of CWDF, Lu Ying, President of Jing'an Women's Federation, and Coco Zhang Jing, Vice-President of Mary Kay (China) Cosmetic Co., Ltd., attended. Other participants included representatives of full-time mothers and street- and community-level women's federations (in Jing'an).
To promote family education, family virtues and family traditions, CWDF and Mary Kay (China) Cosmetic Co., Ltd. in 2023 initiated the project to help full-time mothers realize their value. During the past year, organizers have conducted investigations in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen, to help them better understand full-time mothers' current situations and needs.
Organizers have conducted various activities to help women improve relationships with their children, improve their ability to conduct family education, and improve their ability to find work and/or start businesses.
In addition to encouraging people across the country to treat women with respect, the organizers have helped people better understand how much effort the mothers put into building their families.
During the ceremony, many mothers (in Jing'an) showed what they had learned (while participating in the project), including performing dances and/or creating art works and/or handmade products.
Many viewers were impressed by the women's confidence and energy. To date, a combined 89 activities have been conducted in Jing'an and Luohu (a district in Shenzhen, a city in South China's Guangdong Province).
Nearly 1,600 full-time mothers have benefited from various activities, including helping them improve relationships and helping them find work and/or start businesses. Organizers have helped full-time mothers establish 17 mutual-aid groups in communities in Jing'an and Luohu.
