CPC Names 11 Women on Draft List Honoring 100 Role Models of Reform, Opening-up

Shen Jilan, a CPC member, was born in the county of Pingshun, north China's Shanxi Province, in December 1929.

Shen had held many government posts, which include president of Shanxi Women's Federation, and vice-secretary of Pingshun County Committee of the CPC, before her retirement many years ago.

Shen has made relentless efforts to explore effective measures to develop the economy of mountainous regions since China introduced its reform and opening-up policy in 1978.

For instance, she has mobilized and led her villagers to preserve the ecological balance and open their plants in a drive to improve their livelihoods.

Shen has been conferred with many awards and titles such as National Model Laborers, National Outstanding CPC Members and National Model Observers of Morality over the past few decades.

Moreover, she is the only deputy elected to China's National People's Congress (NPC) for 13 consecutive times.
