Hu Xiaoyan [China Women's News]

Hu Xiaoyan, a CPC member, was born in the county of Wusheng, southwest China's Sichuan Province, in January 1974. She is vice-president of the federation of trade unions in the district of Sanshui in Foshan, a city in south China's Guangdong Province.

Hu went to Foshan and worked as a rural migrant like many others there in 1998. Thanks to her persistent pursuit of progress and hard work, she became one of managerial staff at the workplace.

Hu put forward many proposals related to the protection of the rights and interests of migrant workers as an NPC deputy at the annual "Two Sessions" in 2008.

Since then, Hu has never stopped in her efforts to safeguard the rights and interests of rural migrants, help them learn academic knowledge, and advocate the building of breastfeeding rooms in public places.

Her life story has been adapted into a film. Furthermore, she has been presented with the National Outstanding Rural Migrants and the National May 1 Labor Medal awards.
